Functional Anatomy and Therapeutic Yoga
Take your practice to a deeper level with this hands-on experiential anatomy course, specifically designed for yoga teachers and serious practitioners of yoga. You will learn the anatomy and function of the major muscles and joints and how they are involved in yoga Asana. By closely examining each posture, you will develop a greater understanding of what is happening in the body. You will learn about injuries including: prevention, modifications, indications/contraindications and the physiology behind injuries. You will learn how Asana, Pranayama and Meditation can be used therapeutically to deepen and enhance your own yoga practice and that of your students for a greater holistic wellness. The impact of Pranayama and Meditation on the nervous system will also be addressed. This is a four day course which is part of the Pranakriya 500 hour teacher training program. You will receive a certificate for continuing education. Anatomy and Therapeutic Yoga This is a two-day version of the full four day course. In this course you will learn basic anatomy, including the muscles and joints involved in Asana as well as information on the nervous system as it pertains to Asana, Pranayama and Meditation. This course can be taught as part of a 200-hour teacher-training program. It is currently being taught as part of the teacher-training programs at Samadhi Yoga Studio in Manchester, CT, the Yogafox School in Delray Beach, FL and Nirvana Yoga in Atlanta, GA.
